Bike Smut and the WNBR

Let me start by saying that NOTHING ABOUT THIS POST IS SAFE FOR WORK!

So that video is the only one available online from the 8th edition of the Bike Smut Erotic Film Festival.  Bike Smut bills itself as:

Bike Smut is a collection of short erotic films made by inspired cyclists from all over the world. It is creative, funny, and aware!

So attending Bike Smut last night was a new experience for me.  I suppose there’s no secret that I’m a fan of smut…porn…whatever word you prefer to use. I was super excited to attend this years Hump Tour, which is an amateur dirty film festival curated by Dan Savage, whom I am a huge fan of.

I find that the idea of “real amateur” pornography really appeals to me.  There’s, ideally, none of the bullcrap that hovers above the mainstream pornography business.  The drugs, the abuse, women getting burnt out after 6 months and 200+ scenes being filmed.  I an understand people not liking all of that.  However, allow me to remind you that “Porn Sites Get More Visitors Each Month Than Netflix, Amazon And Twitter Combined.”

However, I’ve never really been able to understand people not being into, at least the idea, of smut.  I love reveling in my sexuality.  It’s what makes us human.   It’s beautiful, and not something to be ashamed of, or hidden.  While I personally couldn’t give two shits about Caitlyn Jenner (I am not one for celebrity gossip and all that bullshit, although yes, I enjoy a good celeb sex video), but I think it’s cool that she’s taking the model of celebrating her sexuality, and in this case how it is changing, or at least how her body is changing to match her sexuality.  It’s all good.  I’m much more interested in my own sex, but whatever.

So, attending a dirty film festival, I really didn’t know what to expect.  There were a lot of people, well I’d say between 30 and 40.

So, how do you behave at a dirty film festival?  I mean, obviously it’s a sexual experience, or at least a celebration of sexuality, but you don’t want to be the creeper sitting there breathing hard and rubbing his nipples…or is that totally ok?  I decided to just play it cool and conservative and see what came.  As the films started, I was like “what do I do?”  Where should I put my hands?  Keep em away from your crotch!”  You don’t want to be the creeper.  The films were very diverse in both topic, and presentation.

So, it was a pleasant experience, and I even made some new acquaintances.  In addition, Bike Smut payed complete homage to the WNBR, or the World Naked Bike Ride, which here in Chicago is today.  If you’re not familiar, with the Naked Bike Ride, I recommend you check it out.

The WNBR isn’t a celebration of sexuality.  Actually, it is a celebration of non-petroleum based forms of transportation.  It’s also a body-positive experience…ll body types are welcome and represented.  I’ve ridden in the WNBR several times, and have ridden completely naked as well.  It’s a great time to be had, and a liberating experience.  It happens all over the world, and I highly recommend it.

So, yes people…go forth, be sexual, be happy, and have a wonderful weekend.
